Welcome to the Fundraising page of
Jenelle Klein

“Recently Deputy Sheriff Jenelle Klein of the Robson Square Law Courts was diagnosed with Alopecia, an autoimmune disease that causes her body to attack hair follicles resulting in complete hair loss. Jenelle is championing to bring awareness to this illness and to bring some smiles to those who know it, all too well by spearheading a fund raising event called the Sheriff Shave Off. All donations will be going towards the BC Children’s Hospital charity “Wigs for Kids."

A message from Jenelle: "I recently lost all of my hair due to alopecia. Alopecia is an autoimmune disease that causes your own body to attack its own hair follicles causing your hair to fall out. It was hard enough losing all of my hair at the stage that I’m at in my life. Therefore, I couldn’t imagine what it would have been like if I had lost all of my hair in elementary school or high school. I am fortunate enough to have had the financial support of my family who came together and bought me a wig restoring my self-confidence and making me feel like myself again. However, that is not the case for many kids starting school this year with no hair or for teens who may be graduating high school this year bald. The recent news article reading that 150 wigs were stolen from a Vancouver store that makes custom wigs for the “Wigs for Kids” charity, struck a chord with me. As a way of giving back, help me show our support for kids living with alopecia for Alopecia Awareness Month.

So far, with the help of her brothers and sisters in the BC Sheriffs and many others, Jenelle has raised just over half of her goal of $2,000.00. Her goal is to raise enough money to buy a child living with alopecia a wig through the Wigs for Kids charity program at BCCH.”

Wigs for Kids BC (W4K BC) helps kids living with cancer, live better.

A proudly volunteer-run organization, W4K BC provides funding to cover the cost of custom-made human-hair wigs for children and teens at BC Children's Hospital who have suffered hair loss due to cancer treatment or other serious illnesses. Donations to W4K BC also help families pay for medications and feeding supplies that are essential for treatment but not covered by their medical plan.

When a child has a serious illness it takes an enormous toll on the entire family–both emotionally and financially. The assistance W4K BC provides makes the family's burden a little lighter so they can focus more of their time and energy on caring for their sick child.

By contributing to W4K BC, you are making a tremendous difference in the lives of children living with cancer - and their families - across the province. Thank you for your support.
