A Tribute in Memory of
Hannah Miller

We were overwhelmed with joy when we discovered we were pregnant with our sweet baby girl. Our love for her grew over the 40 weeks of an extremely healthy pregnancy and at 39 weeks, we discovered she had two heart defects; a coarctation of the aorta and atrioventricular septal defect. Within 12 hours of the news, we packed our bags and relocated to Vancouver in order to have her at the best possible place, the BC Children's Hospital. We were incredibly blessed with her birth on December 4th, 2013 at the BC Women's Hospital. It was the best day of our lives. From there, she went directly to the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at the BC Children's Hospital where they had been expecting her arrival for days. Hannah captured the hearts of the nurses and doctors that cared so much for her in the PICU. On top of Hannah's heart condition, the doctors discovered that Hannah had an extremely rare and fatal lung disease called Alveolar capillary dysplasia with misalignment of pulmonary veins (ACD/MPV). She received exceptional care from the amazing staff and we are incredibly grateful for the compassion, education, and expertise of everyone who cared for her. With the help of Hannah's family and the picu staff, Hannah fought a strong battle but, sadly, lost her struggle and passed away in our arms on the morning of December 10th.

We created this tribute page in order to honour our beautiful girl and give thanks to the hospital that did everything they could to help keep her alive. We really appreciate the donations in honour and memory of Hannah. It makes us feel better knowing our daughter can have such a tremendous impact on you, the world and the BC Children's Hospital Foundation. Hannah fought strong every minute of her life and we want her legacy to continue to keep fighting. Please share our story with your friends and family in order to keep our baby girl's beautiful shining light alive.

Thank you for all of your support,
