BC Children's Hospital Foundation

Winston was born on June 23, 2018. During my 22 week ultrasound, he was diagnosed with complex Congenital Heart Defects - it was previously unseen until I was sent to Women's Hospital. We were completely gutted to find out our first born had complex heart issues. 

Winston was born with Double Outlet Right Ventricle, Transposition of the Great Arteries, a small aorta and a straddling mitral valve. Despite these setbacks, the delivery went smoothly, he came out healthier than expected and was able to come home after a week in the NICU. 

Winston had his first open heart surgery (atrial septectomy and a PA band placement) in September 2018 with the remarkable Dr. Ghandi. It went very well. 

He had his second open heart surgery (the Glenn procedure) in July of 2019 and did so well, we were released from the hospital after 3 days inpatient. 

Winston recently had his last completion surgery (the Fontan procedure) in June 2022 and did remarkably well! 

Winston has grown to become a rambunctious, sweet and curious child who continues to amaze us and his doctors every day. 

We are so extremely grateful for the Children's Heart Centre at BC Children's Hospital - every single person we've met have been kind, caring and dedicated to keep Winston in good health. They have become Winston's second family. 

We want to keep the positive vibes going, so we decided to set up a Tribute page in lieu of presents. Your contributions will help sick kids, including Winston get the best care they can here in BC.
