MUSIC FOR LIFE is a fundraising concert in support of BC Children's Hospital Foundation. The concert features two young pianists, Anson Hui from Toronto and Kevin Zhang from Victoria. The concert will be taking place on September 16, 2018, at 2 PM, at Phillip T. Young Recital Hall, University of Victoria. Here is Anson’s story:

Eighteen year old Anson suffers from Glycogen Storage Disease Type 1. He has had a daily g-tube internal feeding for 15 years and recently has had a liver transplant. Beyond surviving his ever-present, life-threatening physical challenges, Anson, who has won awards in many prestigious piano competitions and performed at Carnegie Hall, has decided to use his musical talents to do fundraising in support of much-needed scientific research and sick children in need. He aspires to become a professional musician/medical researcher and currently studies at University of Toronto.

Sixteen year old Kevin Zhang currently attends St. Michael's University School. He is studying piano under Ya Lin Hung and has fulfilled the Associate Of Royal Conservatory Diploma in Performance (ARCT) with First Class Honour.

After meeting Anson at a piano workshop at Indiana University, Kevin was profoundly inspired by Anson’s passion for music, love for life, and dedication in helping others. Having Anson as a role model, he would also like to contribute his musical talent for a good cause.

Every element that makes BC Children's Hospital so important to BC's kids would not be possible without the generosity of our supporters and friends. From the tiniest toy that puts a smile on a youngster's face to the groundbreaking pediatric research that's helping to find better treatments and cures for many devastating childhood diseases. A donation of $30 or more guarantees you a seat to the Music For Life Concert on Sept. 16th at 2pm. Your ticket will be available at the door of the Philip T.
