Being part of the modeling industry for almost 15 years has given me a strong sense of purpose and afforded me some amazing opportunities to travel and meet people from all different walks of life. It has also shown me the value of being confident and how that confidence can be driven by the beauty we find in the uniqueness of ourselves, as human beings. Similar to many other women, I've always found security and confidence in my hair.  It's the simplest thing, but it's true.  Because I know how powerful my hair has been for me, I've always wanted to be able to donate my hair to a child who lost theirs to the grueling process of chemotherapy in order to somehow help in their journey.  After having our daughter, Camilla, it has really hit home, and I've now decided to take the plunge.

In order to stitch a wig from real hair, technicians need 10 full inches.  In addition, there is a labor cost to actually make the wig. I've got the hair part covered and thought this would be a good opportunity to raise money to donate to Wigs for Kids (BC Children's Hospital Foundation).  We have also found a corporate sponsor, BlueArck Private Equity, who will match up to $5,000 of funds donated.

Wigs for Kids BC (W4K BC) helps kids living with cancer, live better.

A proudly volunteer-run organization, W4K BC provides funding to cover the cost of custom-made human-hair wigs for children and teens at BC Children's Hospital who have suffered hair loss due to cancer treatment or other serious illnesses. Donations to W4K BC also help families pay for medications and feeding supplies that are essential for treatment but not covered by their medical plan.

When a child has a serious illness it takes an enormous toll on the entire family–both emotionally and financially. The assistance W4K BC provides makes the family's burden a little lighter so they can focus more of their time and energy on caring for their sick child.
