Welcome to the Fundraising page for EoE research at BC Children's Hospital in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
Dr. Chan, pediatric allergist, and Dr. Avinashi, pediatric gastroenterologist, started the only multidisciplinary pediatric clinic for eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE) in Canada in 2011. Since then, they have worked together to help improve the diagnosis and management of patients with EoE in BC.
One of their most important contributions to the field of EoE is the creation of a pediatric EoE registry, which collects clinical and demographic information on all patients who are seen in EoE clinic. There are currently almost 200 patients enrolled in the EoE registry, and new patients are enrolled every month.
The EoE registry has allowed the research team at BCCH to bring in international collaborators from different fields to study diagnostic tests, treatment outcomes with medication vs. dietary restriction, and transition from pediatric to adult care.
Our next endeavour is to study the epigenetics of EoE. Funding will allow us to collect the tissues and samples needed to better understand what is causing EoE in children.
We appreciate your support in this important endeavour.
